The FBI says a Garland man bragged about being a true patriot as he went behind police lines and into the US Capitol during the riot.

Daniel Phipps was arrested in Corpus Christi on charges of Knowingly Entering or Remaining in any restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority and Impeding or Disrupting Official Functions; Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds.

A statement of facts filed by the Justice Depoartment shows pictures of Phipps at the demonstration and inside the Capitol with a US flag over his shoulder.

The filing shows tweets from Phipps claiming, among other things:

“Everyone talks about being a patriot until its time to do patriot shit. Texas is part of the US. Secession should only be considered after the fight has been lost. I went to DC. I helped take the Hill. I helped other patriots prevent antifa from damaging anything. I exercised my 1st amendment right to take grievances to our representatives. It was a (mostly peaceful) political protest Where were you on 06JAN21?” according to the Statement of Facts.

The FBI says the rioters were the only ones to damage anything and Antifa wasn’t there.

Phipps makes the seventh from the Dallas Fort Worth area to be arrested for the Jan 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.
