IRVING (1080 KRLD)-A teenager is behind bars this morning after police say he led them on a car chase through Grand Prairie.
Grand Prairie police say they tried to stop Isaac Romero, 18, around 2 a.m. for a traffic violation near I-30 and MacArthur … but he didn't pull over. So they chased him.
"The short pursuit ended in the 1700 block of West Shady Grove, that's in Irving, when the suspect's vehicle became disabled," says Chelsea Kretz, Public Information Officer with the GPPD, adding that Romero crashed his car into a curb. "At that point the suspect ran inside the house and barricaded himself for several hours."
The Irving Police Department was called in to assist with the standoff, and so was the Grand Prairie SWAT team.
Around 6:30 this morning, police say the SWAT team arrested the teen on two counts of felony Evading Arrest and two additional warrants out of Dallas County: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon. He was booked into the Grand Prairie Jail.
