The legal battle over the state's controversial new immigration law continues today while state lawmakers and business leaders weigh in on how this fight is affecting the state's economy.

A three-judge panel ruled the law should stay blocked while the case works through the court. The law, SB4, would let state and local law enforcement arrest people they suspect entered the country illegally.

North Texas Commission Chief Executive Chris Wallace says the law could slow economic growth in Texas.

State Representative Ramon Romero says Texas already has open jobs it can't fill, and the law might just turn other people away.

They spoke at an event calling for federal action to expand work authorization.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has said President Biden created a border crisis, and Texas has a right to defend itself. A federal appeals court is hearing arguments from both sides today.
