Colleyville, TX — May 6, 2025 - A lightning strike during Monday’s storms ignited a house fire in Colleyville, sending three people to the hospital with minor injuries.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. in the 2500 block of Twelve Oaks Lane, where security camera footage captured the moment a bolt struck the home’s roof, immediately sparking flames. Neighbor Peter Paredez, who witnessed the event, described it as “very crazy” and said, “Never seen anything like that”.

Firefighters responded swiftly, extinguishing the blaze before it could spread further. Officials confirmed that three adults inside the home were injured and transported to the hospital. The fire caused significant damage to the back half of the house, and investigators believe the lightning strike was the direct cause.

Monday’s storms brought heavy rain, frequent lightning, and strong winds across North Texas, prompting concerns about additional severe weather this week.

Authorities urge residents to stay indoors during storms and take precautions against lightning strikes.
