A man is in the hospital after trying to put out a fire in his South Dallas duplex Tuesday night.
The fire broke out just before 9 p.m. at a duplex on Beall Street about a mile from Fair Park.
Dallas firefighters got there and found the man suffering from smoke inhalation because he ran back inside to try to douse the flames himself.
That didn't work out and the man evacuated the duplex himself.
Paramedics rushed him to the hospital where he's expected to recover.
Once on the scene, it took the firefighters less than 15 minutes to extinguish the fire.
Officials are still trying to determine how the fire started.
