Marine veteran and Granbury, Texas native Trevor Reed is speaking out about his time locked inside a Russian prison, and some of the experiences he describes sound like scenes from a horror movie.

Reed says the worst part of his nearly 3-year stint in prison was being held in a psychiatric treatment facility. He describes blood-smeared walls and prisoners walking around like zombies.

Many nights, Reed says he feared for his life. But he had a strategy for survival. He says he would think of the future and all of the things he’d finally get to do when he returned home ... even though he didn't have much hope he would ever truly be free.

Then, last month, Reed was released in a prisoner swap for Konstantin Yaroshenko, a Russian who had been serving a 20-year prison sentence in a cocaine trafficking conspiracy case.

Reed is back in Texas now, back with family, and says he’s feeling a little better each day.
