Dallas police have released the name of the Wilmer-Hutchins High School student accused of shooting a classmate last week.
Arrest documents show that Ja'Kerian Rhodes-Ewing was arrested at the school shortly after the gunfire that left another student wounded. He remains jailed on charges of Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon and of the Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon in a Prohibited Place.
Last night, parents met at the West Dallas church pastored by Dallas school trustee Maxie Johnson who lost a son in a Dallas shooting five years ago.
Johnson hosted the meeting to give parents and other community members a chance to express their concerns and offer suggestions.
Some spoke of their dismay to learn that a gun was carried onto campus despite metal detectors and a clear-bag policy.
