Neighbors in Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood are temporarily blocking vehicle and pedestrian traffic near a popular holiday mansion display after securing a special event permit to address congestion and safety concerns.
Residents say the permit allows restricted access during peak viewing times, particularly on weekend evenings, as large crowds drawn by the viral light display have overwhelmed narrow residential streets. The measures are intended to reduce traffic backups, improve emergency access, and limit foot traffic spilling into the roadway.
The holiday display, located in a residential area of Preston Hollow, gained widespread attention on social media in recent years, leading to heavy visitation from across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Neighbors say traffic and parking problems during previous seasons prompted them to seek a formal solution.
The permit allows controlled access through Christmas, with restrictions expected to be lifted once the holiday season ends. City officials have not announced any permanent changes related to the display, and the arrangement is limited to the approved event period.
