Gas was shut off at the Highland Hills Apartments in southeast Oak Cliff yesterday morning.

"They say that somebody went into one of the vacant apartments and turned the gas [stove] on and left it on," tenant Roshunda Tilley said. "They told us that somebody came out and tested and said they found several leaks."

Tilley said she's frustrated, but not surprised. Ever since the blast in September, she says the apartment complex hasn't felt safe, adding that the blast has caused new issues, including holes in the walls, broken windows and rats.

"I am so ready to move because now we don't know if we're going to blow up," Tilley said. "I really need help. I've called code compliance ... they're not doing anything."

Atmos Energy says its facilities were not involved in the new leaks. They say gas will be restored to the complex when they get the green light to do so, hopefully sometime today.
