Power outages are impacting Texas refineries, gas prices expected to rise

Patrick Dehaan with Gas Buddy says that means we'll be paying more soon for gasoline.

Deehan says he expects a ten cent a gallon increase in the near future, and depending how long refineries stay down it could be as much as 20 to 30 cents a gallon.

"Refineries are tremendously complex. It's not like turning on a light switch. It may take days to get these refineries back up and running once temperatures start to improve."

He says the cold and subsequent shutdowns means 20 percent of US capacity is offline.
