President Donald Trump endorsed a social media proposal Sunday night to rename U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as National Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which would change the agency’s acronym from ICE to NICE.
In a Truth Social post late Sunday, April 26, Trump shared a screenshot of an X suggestion from March and added the comment “GREAT IDEA!!! DO IT. President DJT.” The original X post proposed the rebrand specifically so media outlets and critics would have to refer to agency officers as “NICE agents” instead of ICE agents.
The idea originated with a conservative influencer who wrote: “I want Trump to change ICE to NICE (National Immigration and Customs Enforcement) so the media has to say NICE agents all day everyday.” It gained traction online among Trump supporters as a playful branding tactic aimed at shifting public perception.

ICE, established in 2003 under the Department of Homeland Security after the Sept. 11 attacks, enforces immigration laws inside the United States.
