The Dallas City Manager wants to improve city streets and sidewalks next year. He's setting aside money in his budget proposal for several transportation projects.
"$138 million on streets to pave 787 street lane miles, $2 million for alley improvements, $4.4 million for bridge repairs and $5.3 million for sidewalks," said City Manager T.C. Broadnax during his initial budget presentation.
"We're going to be looking to spend money in key corridors around lighting and other public safety lighting throughout. For example, Walton Walker and Loop 12 - to brighten up that area and do some public safety lighting, as well as investing in some sidewalks," he said.
The city will also use money it receives from DART for sidewalks, bike lane upgrades, and ADA-compliant ramps.
The full Dallas City Council will get a briefing on the City Manager's proposed budget on Tuesday. Council Members will have the opportunity over the next few weeks to make amendments before they take a final vote on next year's budget in September.
