With the announcement that former President Jimmy Carter is entering hospice care, the country is taking time to remember the impact Carter had after he left office in 1981.
After his time in Washington, Carter returned to private life, but he didn't stay still. He went to work back in Plains, Georgia, teaching Sunday school at his church and becoming passionately involved in building new homes for people with Habitat For Humanity.

Carter visited North Texas in 2014 to work with Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity. Blaine Cowart, vice president of homeowner services with Habitat for Humanity, says she got to work with the former president during his visit.
