Tonight could be the end of the line for an embattled North Texas high school principal.
The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees has a special meeting this evening at 7:30, during which it will consider a proposed settlement and separation agreement with suspended Colleyville Heritage High School Principal Dr. James Whitfield.
Back in late July, former school board candidate Stetson Clark called for Whitfield's firing over what Clark called Whitfield's "extreme views on race." One month later, the board placed the school's first-ever Black principal on administrative leave, much to the distaste of several students.
"It hurts me to consider the fear he and his family have to live with because of the disgusting hate occupying our community," student Sean Vo said. "I cannot stand for that. We cannot stand for that."
The board voted unanimously the following month to move forward with not renewing his contract. The details of the settlement and separation agreement will not be made public unless and until approved.
