The Fort Worth ISD superintendent is stepping down from his position earlier than originally planned.
In an agreement with the Board of Trustees, Dr. Kent Scribner will step down as Fort Worth ISD superintendent on August 31st of this year.
"On behalf of the entire District, the Board of Trustees wish to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Scribner for his leadership while serving as Superintendent of this great school district and its wonderful students, parents, teachers, and administrators," the Board of Trustees wrote in a joint statement.
Scribner will continue to serve in an advisory role through February 28th, 2023, on which date Scribner will retire from the district.
In the joint statement, Scribner thanked past and present trustees for providing him the opportunity to serve the school district for seven years.
Scribner's contract was set to expire on August 31st, 2024, and he had planned on serving until that date when he announced his retirement back in January.
After voting unanimously to accept Scribner's resignation and amended retirement date, the board started hearing pitches from search firms as it gets set to choose one to search for its next superintendent.
