A suspect is in custody following a Wednesday morning robbery and shooting outside a Chase Bank branch in Balch Springs, where an armored car employee was critically injured while handling cash at an ATM lane, police and FBI officials confirmed.
Law enforcement responded about 8:30 a.m. at the Chase Bank on Lake June Road, found the armored car worker with a gunshot wound and transported him to the hospital in critical condition; the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force is leading the investigation and federal charges have been filed in the case.
Surveillance footage played a key role in identifying and arresting the suspect, whose name has not been released, and authorities say there is no known ongoing threat to the public as the probe continues.
