Officers arrested a suspected prowler outside a woman's home in Everman on Monday night, police say.

Everman police said they first got word of a prowler outside a woman's home in the Chambers Creek neighborhood on Thursday.

"He was regularly visiting it," Everman police Chief Craig Spencer said. "It wasn't just one time; there were multiple cases of him going by and peering into windows, getting into her backyard, which was a fenced-in back yard, and peering in through the windows and doors as best as he could."

Monday night, the prowler returned, and police responded within three minutes. The man tried to flee.

"They attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver failed to yield, leading to a pretty brief pursuit that was confined within the neighborhood," Spencer said. "After a couple of minutes of chasing the vehicle, the driver decided to bail out of the truck on foot, at which time our officers were able to catch him and apprehend him and bring him into custody."

At this time, it's unclear why the man targeted the home.

"It doesn't appear that there is any relationship between the two," Spencer said. "They don't know each other at all."

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, is charged with evading arrest with a vehicle. More charges are pending.

"Unsure at this point so early on in the investigation as to what exactly his intent was," Spencer said. "But I think we can all surmise that it was an ill intent, no matter what."
