After two days of last-minute talks at the Four Seasons in Las Colinas, Major League Baseball and the Players Association failed to agree on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement by last night and a lock-out went into effect.

Negotiators for both sides met yesterday in two sessions lasting a combined total of less than an hour.

Then, Wednesday afternoon, the MLB representatives abruptly left the Four Seasons, making it clear the talks were over. The current CBA expired at 11 p.m. Texas time.

A lock-out will have a big impact on normal off-season activities. For example, the players will not be allowed to work out in team facilities. Nor will injured players receive therapy or rehab from team medical personnel.

And, there will be no more transactions including free-agent signings until the impasse is over.
