It's another step forward for a proposed $5 billion car factory on the far western side of Fort Worth.

Yesterday, the city council approved a package of tax incentives worth about $440 million to Rivian, an electric vehicle manufacturer and automotive technology company which has ties to Amazon and Ford Motors.

Rivian envisions a massive campus in the still under-development Walsh community near Aledo.

Over the next six years Rivian claims it will create 7,500 jobs averaging more than $55,000 a year.

Fort Worth is considered the front-runner, but Rivian has other cities under consideration.
