This zip code has highest COVID-19 immunity rate in Dallas County

Based on the numbers, residents of the Dallas County zip code 75082 certainly are doing their part in the quest to achieve herd immunity against the coronavirus.

As of Thursday, the Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation (PCCI) said that zip code in Richardson-Garland, south of Plano Rd. and east of U.S. 75, was one of a dozen in the county that had crossed the 80% threshold for herd immunity.

As for Dallas County as a whole, PCCI President/CEO Dr. Steve Miff said the current immunity figure is 65%.  And while there is some overlap between the vaccinated and those who have recovered after being infected with COVID-19, the percentages between those two groups are evenly split.

Dr. Miff told KRLD News that PCCI experts are talking with officials in the highest-immunity zip codes to find what they are doing properly, in an effort to boost vaccination rates in other areas.

Dr. Miff spoke with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
