Skateboard legend Tony Hawk made a plea via a YouTube video to the Garland city council to rename is recenlty opened skate park called the Boneyard to honor Jon Comer, a Garland native who is known as the godfather of adaptive skatebaording.

Comer was the first pro skatebaorder to compete with a prosthetic leg. He died in 2019 at the age of 43.

The 46,000 square foot skate in park which opened in October is the second of its kind in the state.

The item will be on the council's agenda at one of its scheduled meetings in February.
