Multiple powerful tornadoes ripped through northern Oklahoma Thursday night, flattening homes in Enid and Braman while injuring at least 10 people.

The first tornado touched down near Braman in Kay County around 7:20 p.m., damaging one home and a barn along with power lines and trees but causing no injuries there. A stronger, long-track tornado then struck the southeast side of Enid in Garfield County around 8:40 p.m., staying on the ground for about 40 minutes and tearing through the Gray Ridge neighborhood. It leveled several homes, downed power lines, and scattered debris near Vance Air Force Base.

Garfield County Emergency Management reported at least 10 minor injuries in the Enid area. No fatalities have been confirmed. Search-and-rescue crews from police, fire, and emergency teams conducted overnight sweeps, going door-to-door to check homes and free anyone trapped. All residents in the hardest-hit zones were accounted for by late Thursday.

Vance Air Force Base took minor damage to fencing and structures on its southeast side but reported no injuries among personnel. The base remained closed Friday for power and water restoration. The City of Enid urged residents to stay out of the Gray Ridge area so first responders and utility crews could work safely. Shelters opened overnight to help displaced families.

The National Weather Service office in Norman confirmed both tornadoes and planned damage surveys for Friday to rate their strength. Oklahoma emergency officials asked residents with storm damage to report it online to speed recovery aid.
