A treatment center for mentally troubled and traumatized youth in Greenville has been shut down following the death of an 11-year-old.

The Texas Tribune reports the 11-year-old was at the Thompson Residential Treatment Center and had gone on a movie outing at a Greenville movie theater.

He had complained to others about feeling bad, and the others living in the home with him also stated that he complained specifically about stomach issues and suffered a head injury.

His death did not become public until State Senator Angela Paxton mentioned it during a senate budget hearing in Austin this week.

The Hunt County Sheriff's Department has opened a criminal investigation, and the home has been closed since. In other words, the license of the company running it has been revoked.
