Gov. Greg Abbott declared in his State of the State address Sunday night that Texas has never been better as he laid out his top seven emergency legislative priorities, including $10 billion in property tax relief.

"No taxing entity should be able to raise your property taxes without a two-thirds approval of voters," he said.

Abbott also called for a trio of education-related bills, which included raising pay for public school teachers, creating a school voucher program, and starting "career training."

Additionally, the governor urged lawmakers to pass legislation allowing the death penalty for individuals convicted of murdering children.
