Just days before the third anniversary of the school shooting in Uvalde, State Lawmakers sent Governor Greg Abbott a bill to improve law enforcement's response to school shootings.

House Bill 33 is called the Uvalde Strong Act. Authored by State Rep Don McLaughlin, the former Mayor of Uvalde on that day.

"It was chaos everywhere, leadership was nowhere to be found, agencies deflected blame instead of stepping up," McLaughlin said.

The bill goes after the numerous failures of law enforcement's response at Robb Elementary including why it took police over 70 minutes to breach the classroom and take down the gunman.

State Senator Pete Flores sponsored the bill.

"Security reviews of school facilites, the development of an active-shooter training program for law enforcement and first responders," Flores said, explaining what the bill includes.

It also calls for the enhancement of communication between schools, law enforcement, and emergency medical services. The bill was unanimously passed by the House and Senate.
