More than a dozen wildfires are still burning in Texas this morning but the biggest is now more than 90 percent contained.
All but one of the fires are in a central strip of Texas running from the Red River down to the Gulf.
The Chalk Mountain Fire in Somervell County is the biggest at 6,700 acres but progress is being made. It's now rated 93% contained.
Looking forward, the Texas A&M Forest Service says through Sunday scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the upper Texas Panhandle and near the Red River, while sea breezes and thunderstorms are possible for the upper Gulf Coast and East Texas.
This moisture will provide short term improvement in vegetation dryness for these areas. While rainfall is forecast for some portions of the state, many areas will remain dry.
There is potential for larger wildfires to occur in the Eastern and Western Hill Country, Cross Timbers and eastern Rolling Plains into early next week.
