A federal appeals court rules in favor of Texas, when it comes to access to birth control.

A panel of the fifth circuit sided with a Texas father. The attorney for Alexander Deanda, who lives in the panhandle argued allowing minors access to birth control without parental permission would be an invasion of Deanda's state-created right to consent to his child's medical care.

Deanda is the father of three young girls and said he wants them to abstain from premarital sex.

The court said the state law does not run afoul of a federally funded pregnancy health program known as Title X. The Biden administration argued it does.

The ruling upholds a 2022 ruling from a Texas-based federal judge and could be appealed to the US Supreme Court.
