The Texas fire danger notice is ranging from Very High to Extreme in the western half of the state including the Panhandle, the Southern Plains, the Big Country, the Hill Country and West Texas.
Officials say winds from the Southwest are funneling very dry air into the region - warm air, strong winds and humidities below ten percent set the stage for the spread of wildfires.
Today, the Training Area 23 fire at Camp Bullis near San Antonio is 70 percent contained with three thousand acres charred. This one was sparked during a training exercise at the army post.
