Governor Greg Abbott says Texas got burned so bad by wildfires earlier this year that he's now ordering several agencies to be on alert.
This comes after the National Weather Service forecasts 'elevated to critical' wildfire danger from Amarillo in the panhandle to Fort Davis in West Texas.
Earlier this year, Texas experienced devastating wildfires that resulted in over $123 million in damages, including severe losses to ranch, pasture, and livestock.
The Governor's office says state agencies should be better prepared this week to mobilize firefighters and aircraft in the event of a wildfire.
