In Houston, some Texas teachers have been caught cheating in order to be hired for the job.

Five people have been charged with falsifying credentials to secure positions for more than 210 teachers who did not meet certification requirements. For a $2,500 fee, a proxy tester would take and pass the exam for the individual.

About 430 tests were taken fraudulently during the four-year scheme. Many of those teachers are now employed in public school districts across Texas.
