While Hurricane Ian is pinwheeling toward the Florida Gulf Coast, things are starting to churn up along the Texas coast, too. Meteorologists are expecting Coastal Bend beaches will see larger and longer period waves start to move in beginning Wednesday through Friday.

Those larger, longer period swells will increase the risk for strong rip currents at least through Friday and maybe through the weekend. This could also mean minor coastal flooding through the end of the week.

The city of Corpus Christi expects the risk of flooding along coastal access roads may force the closure of those roads. There will be message boards updating residents and visitors on changing beach and water conditions.
