Texas is now near the bottom of the list when it comes to safe places to have babies.

This study from Forbes Advisor put Texas tied with Alabama for 11th worst. Texas scores 5.4 in infant mortality out of a thousand births. 28 women die during pregnancy out of 100 thousand women.

The worst state for pregnant women is Arkansas, with an infant mortality of 7.8, and 43 women out of 100 thousand. South Dakota is the second worst. Vermont is the best.

Recent studies showed only 42% of pregnant women around the country had access to the best medicare during their pregnancy.

The way Forbes ranked the states is by different metrics like childbirth costs, risks associated with delivery, and access to obstetricians and gynecologists. In some states, women face high costs and a shortage of resources, thus putting the state at the bottom of the list.
