Just ahead of the Football game, a dispute between Texas and Oklahoma over state boundaries along Lake Texhoma is settled.
The pump was originally constructed in 1989 in Grayson County, Texas but when the map was redrawn in 2000, the pumping station was partially placed in Oklahoma. That wasn't discovered for 9 years.
Now, Texas has agreed to swap 1.34 acres of water property on Lake Texoma with Oklahoma, in exchange for the land where a North Texas Municipal Water District pump sits. This will move the state’s boundary without affecting personal property ownership, water rights or tribal government rights.
Texas also agreed to pay Oklahoma $10 million as a part of the settlement.
