The weather on Christmas is looking to be a little mild this year and most likely a little bit rainy. The chance of a White Christmas is almost an impossibility, but that doesn’t mean snow is out of the question for January or February.
Another Icemageddon is always a possibility ‘round these parts.
With the inevitable ice storm seemingly becoming an annual occurrence, we all live in trepidation just hoping the Grid stays alive to provide power to all of our homes, something apparently, they are under no obligation to do.
According to the Texas Standard, Texas power plants have no responsibility to provide electricity during emergencies. A three-judge panel recently convened to decide on the merits of lawsuits filed after energy systems began failing following the ice storms.
Chief Justice Terry Adams issued the unanimous opinion of that panel stating: “Texas does not currently recognize a legal duty owed by wholesale power generators to retail customers to provide continuous electricity to the electric grid, and ultimately to the retail customers.”
If you haven’t purchased a generator for your home yet, it’s probably not a bad time to do so!
