State transportation officials are asking for more transportation money in order to keep up with traffic demands. Texas continues to grow by leaps and bounds.
State lawmakers were told that the ten-year, $100 billion plan transportation plan is inadequate.
Mark Williams with TxDot says the state needs to have $200 billion worth of construction under contract. He says that easing congestion would have a $17 billion economic impact.
Earlier this year, the governor announced more funding for streets and roads. The state is spending about $2 billion a year on maintenance.
