Three people have been confirmed dead from a tornado that struck the Panhandle town of Perryton near the Oklahoma line.
The twister hit just past 5 p.m. Thursday and took aim on a mobile home park where more than two dozen homes were damaged or destroyed.
At least one of the fatalities was in that park where firefighters began digging through the rubble immediately. The Perryton fire chief estimated that 75 to 100 people were taken to the hospital owith some in critical condition.
Ochiltree General Hospital in Perryton posted this notice on its Facebook page: "Walking/wounded please go to the clinic. All others to the hospital ER"
The National Weather Service will be on-site in Perryton today to determine the size and wind speeds of the tornado.
