An adult on the bus and the wrong-way driver were pronounced dead on the scene. Another adult from the bus was pronounced dead after being airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock, according to AP.

Two students were also airlifted to the hospital and are currently listed in critical but stable conditions, DPS Sgt. Justin Baker said per AP.

It is not clear how many students were hurt, however, those suffering from minor injuries were transported to the Scenic Mountain Medical Center, Baker said.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott released a statement via his Twitter on Saturday morning asking "Texans to join me & Cecilia in prayer for those who were injured or lost their lives in the bus crash in Big Spring."

The football game was postponed.
