This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week and the timing lines up perfectly, given the severe storms and Tornado Watches Tuesday morning. A Wind Advisory is in effect for North and Central Texas until 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Conditions deteriorated rapidly late Monday evening, with a line of showers and storms forming a couple of hundred miles to our west. This line brought severe weather to the area that included hail, damaging winds, and isolated brief tornadoes.

The storm system will continue to intensify, impacting the southeastern states during the day Tuesday through Wednesday noon. All modes of severe weather are possible east of the Lone Star State during this time frame.

Behind this line of storms, skies will rapidly clear by lunchtime Tuesday, with a strong wind impacting the rest of the day. A dry west wind will blow, potentially producing wind gusts over 45 miles per hour. A decent cold front will move through Tuesday night, dropping temperatures into the 40s for Wednesday morning. Sunny, breezy, and cool conditions will prevail during the afternoon, with high temperatures reaching nearly 60 degrees.

Temperatures will be back in the 40s for Thursday morning, with sunny and beautiful conditions by afternoon and highs reaching the mid-60s. A rapid, brief warm-up will occur on Friday, with plenty of sunshine and highs reaching near 80 degrees.

The next weather change will arrive late Friday and early Saturday, as a strong cold front settles into the area. It will be windy and much colder as the day progresses, with temperatures starting in the low 60s and dropping to the mid-to-upper 40s by late afternoon and evening. Behind this cold front, an upper-level disturbance will produce scattered showers and possibly thunder during the day on Saturday. Most of the rain should be gone by Sunday morning, with decreasing cloud cover and afternoon highs reaching the low 60s.
