A search for two shooting suspects continues Friday after one person was critically wounded in a shooting at the Westfield Culver City Mall on Thursday night.
It happened around 7:40 p.m., near the JCPenny store, according to Sgt. Chris Ferrier with the Culver City Police Department.
He said the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds. There are no updates on the man's condition at this time.
"At this point, it looks like there might have been an altercation prior to [the shooting]," Ferrier said. "But we're still investigating that."
Witnesses told CBS 2 that chaos erupted after the shots rang out, sending people running for cover.
In 911 calls, witnesses told police that the two suspects were last seen running northbound toward the exit doors, according to a statement shared by CCPD.
Police evacuated the mall ahead of an extensive search of the mall, but the suspects managed to get away. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 310-253-6202.
