GLENDALE, Calif. (KNX) –Six workers were rescued after a structure partially collapsed in Glendale Wednesday.
It happened at a building construction site in the 1200 block of South Glendale Avenue. The metal roof trusses that were under construction were what collapsed, KTLA reported.
About 70 workers were inside when the collapse happened. One of the men, Lorenzo, told KNX News, he heard the collapse.
"I turned around and I just saw it coming down and we all ran outside," he said.
Of the six trapped inside, three men were trapped in rubble and one was stuck in a cherry picker.
Anita Shandi spokesperson for the Glendale Fire Department, told KNX News two of the workers were trapped inside caged cherry pickers.
“So, it's kind of a cage that they're in, fortunately, which kind of protects them from the metal tresses that had fallen on them,” she said.
Those two men had to be hoisted by a rescue helicopter.
Five of them went to the hospital for examination. No injuries were reported.
It is unclear what caused the collapse.
