SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KNX) — Nine people and two dogs were rescued from the Santa Ana River Tuesday after ongoing storms left the group stranded.

It happened near Riverside Avenue and Agua Mansa Road in Colton, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office.

The transients, whose ages ranges from 24 to 62, stood on pockets of land as crew members from the department’s Air Rescue 307 responded to the area.

Upon arriving, a Sheriff's Dive Team member was lowered down to the group and rescued each transient individually, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

One person had to be rescued from a car that was caught in the flood, while another person was rescued from a tree house over water.

Tuesday’s storm caused many areas to experience mudslides, rockslides, and numerous amounts of flooding. In Los Angeles, officials found three cars in the L.A. River.
