SAN DIMAS (CNS) - A brush fire broke out in San Dimas today and scorched at least 100 acres, but no homes were threatened, authorities said

The fire was reported about 4 a.m. near San Dimas Canyon and Golden Hill roads, northeast of San Dimas Canyon Golf Course, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire is burning uphill, but no homes are threatened, the department said.


Three water-dropping helicopter were on scene assisting crews on the ground, according to the La Verne Police Department, which urged residents to avoid the area.

La Verne Fire Department personnel are assisting county crews.
  The cause of the blaze was unknown.
