Comedian Gabriel Iglesias announced via Twitter late Wednesday night that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

Iglesias, known as “Fluffy,” made the announcement on the eve of his 45th birthday. The comedian, who lends his voice to the upcoming movie “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” said he took two different tests after he started experiencing symptoms of having COVID.

“Fortunately it wasn’t debilitating,” he said. “I’m still able to talk. I just had some body aches and some chills.”

Iglesias, who lives in Whittier, credited having been previously vaccinated for having mild symptoms. He also announced the cancellation of the remainder of his live comedy shows in San Antonio.

“I’m sorry, I have to go into isolation,” Iglesias said. “As soon as I have three negative tests, I’ll go back to work. But until then, I’m just going to lay low.”

He ended the video with a joke about having COVID on his birthday.

“It’s not the way I wanted to spend my birthday, but at least I have cake,” Iglesias said. “I can’t taste it or smell it, but at least I have it.”
