The Los Angeles Police Department is setting the record straight Friday after some social media posts alleged that two helicopter pilots joked about lighting demonstrators on fire during the protest over the Echo Park homeless encampment Thursday.
The audio can be heard here, via TMZ.
In response to the audio clip circulated online, LAPD Captain Stacy Spell says, those two pilots are not LAPD officers and they are not employees of the department.
Another proof the LAPD is providing is to make sure it’s not a police helicopter. The radio frequency used during the incident is a common aviation frequency used by all aircraft pilots in Southern California.
