Officers with the Palm Springs Police Department and California Department of Fish and Wildlife worked together to safely capture a mountain lion that was found in a neighborhood.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife said they safely tranquilized the lion. After officials determined the lion was malnourished and in need of treatment, the lion was taken to a wildlife rehabilitation facility in San Diego County for treatment.

“This serves as a good reminder to keep an eye on your smaller animals and don’t leave your pet’s food out to be eaten by wildlife,” the police department wrote on Facebook. “Thank you CDFW for assisting us with our furry neighbor.”
