RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KNX) — Riverside County’s unemployment numbers were down to 5.4% last month, according to figures released by the California Employment Development Department on Friday. That’s the lowest point recorded in 20 months.

The jobless rate in November was almost a full percentage point lower than in October, according to the EDD. The figures indicated county joblessness may be returning to its pre-pandemic level.

The combined unemployment rate for the broader Inland Empire was also 5.4%, down from 6.3% in October. This tracked with roughly 5,700 jobs added in both Riverside and San Bernardino counties in the agricultural, financial, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing and public service sectors.

Inland Empire numbers were also reported to be in line with broader state figures. EDD said the statewide non-seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in November was also 5.4% — supporting indications of broader workforce stabilization both in California and around the country.
