Arts education has been found to promote expression and creativity - teaching children that there are several paths to take to approaching problems, which often may have more than one solution. The VAPA Foundation provides access to quality arts education for young people in the San Diego Unified School District and targets the areas who are most in need. This nonprofit offers a variety of impactful programs and supports organizations catered to enabling elementary, middle, and high school students to have access to arts, music, dance and much more.
VAPA has awarded nearly $100k to enhance arts education projects at SDUSD and has served nearly 5,000 students. Russ Sperling, Director, Visual and Performing Arts for VAPA, discusses how the organization is enhancing arts education for SDUSD.
