UPDATE: The Padres made it official and called up Ethan Salas on Tuesday morning prior to their game against the Reds.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee, the Padres will call up top prospect Ethan Salas on Tuesday once rosters expand with the calendar flipping to September. The 20-year old catching prospect was promoted to Triple-A shortly before the trade deadline, and has a .949 OPS at that level in 24 games. Salas is baseball's 23rd ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline, and is set to join the Padres in Cincinnati prior to the second game of their series against the Reds.
