The Padres bounced back from a disappointing loss on Friday night to beat the Blue Jays in a high-scoring back and forth game on Saturday night. Neither starting pitcher made it into the 3rd inning, and both Walker Buehler and Trey Yesavage allowed 4 earned runs. After the Padres scored two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, the Blue Jays responded with 4 runs in the top of the 2nd. But their lead was short-lived, as the Padres scored 2 runs in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd innings, and another in the 4th to take a 7-4 lead. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. blasted a game-tying 3-run homer in the top of the 6th inning, but Ty France played the hero and responded immediately with a mammoth solo home run in the bottom of the 6th to put the Padres back on top for good. Adrian Morejon and Mason Miller each pitched a scoreless inning to close things out in an 8-7 win for the Padres, who will have an opportunity to win their final series of the first half with a win on Sunday.
