PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you want to stay young mentally and physically, one of the best ways to do so is by exercising.

Exercise increases your brain’s plasticity, or connections between cells. It also releases a chemical called brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which helps new brain cells develop and thrive.

But what is the best amount of exercise?

Most studies suggest 30 minutes a day on most days. The CDC recommends a goal of 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity and two days of strength-training each week.

One of the best ways to try and hit that goal is to try something new whenever you can, and never underestimate the power of day-to-day activities that allow you to stay moving and engaged all day.
